Forced to Get a MySpace Account
I finally broke down and got a MySpace account. It was either that or buy a tee-shirt that said “No! I don’t have MySpace account” on it.
I just know too many people that do their blogging on MySpace with privacy guards on them. The only way I see that I am able to view them is to actually sign up and add them to my friends list.
It’s MySpaces way of forcing people to sign up. No wonder they have such a huge user base.
The first thing I noticed while setting up the account is the tremendous lack of control. Unlike Wordpress or MovableType, you have no control over 99% of the settings. You can’t go in and edit php or css at all. You have very little control over the sidebars.
I suppose this may be a good thing for anyone that has no technical skills. Some of the pages I visit are incredibly ugly and cluttered. Others are very well done. The ones that are well done make me wonder why they don’t get a real domain and do some serious blogging and web designing.
So, now I am joining the masses of the unwashed. I’ll still do my blogging here. I suppose my account will really just be a ‘place holder’ for the most part. I will be able to view my friends with privacy settings blogs now though.
I just feel so dirty.

Facebook I’ve got, and I hate it.
Always was partial to Yahoo’s 360. But I hear they’re going to end it.
